The mission of Facilities Services is to support the university as responsible stewards of state resources by providing the campus with safe, clean, state-of-the-art environments and empowering a campus community with a commitment to the tradition of excellence. To uphold this mission, Facilities Services relies on the leadership of our executive team to carry out the work required to keep campus going and growing. Each of our units report to an executive leader, and as a whole, this team serves to advise and advocate for Facilities Services and our campus at large.
Mike Brady has served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Services since March 2022. He came to UT with more than 25 years of experience in facilities management, including 20 years in the Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps and Seabees and five years with Old Dominion University. Mike is a Certified Energy Manager and a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys spending time outdoors and relaxing with his family. As Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Services, Mike is tasked with overseeing operation and maintenance of more than 290 buildings on 600+ acres of land by 600+ Facilities Services team members. His direct reports include the Assistant Vice Chancellor of FS Operations, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Facilities Planning & Design, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Construction, and the Executive Director of Administrative Services.
Mike BradyASSOCIATE VICE CHANCELLORWilliam Maffett joined the Facilities Services team as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Planning & Design in March 2024. He brings more than $1 Billion in higher education professional practice and university experience as a registered architect. With past experience at Auburn University as Campus Architect, Campus Planner, and Space Manager, as well as the studio leader for multiple national and regional higher education focused architecture and engineering firms, William leads with a collaborative and transformational mindset enabling teams to drive impactful change in building an innovative and sustainable campus.
As Assistant Vice Chancellor of Planning & Design, William oversees the Design Services, Space Management, and Project Administration teams.
William MaffettAsst. Vice Chancellor of Planning & DesignMatt Motsko began serving as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Construction for Facilities Services in March 2024. He joined the Facilities Services team with 25 years of experience in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps and Seabees, and over 4 years as an Engineering Consultant and with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Matt most recently executed more than $500 million in capital improvements for those entities and is a licensed Professional Engineer and certified Project Manager who enjoys hiking with his wife and dogs, and doing triathlons. As AVC of Construction, Matt is responsible for the Capital Construction and In-House Construction teams.
Matt MotskoAsst. Vice Chancellor of ConstructionDerek Bailey has served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Operations for Facilities Services since June 2023. Derek has 18 years of facilities management experience at the university and previously served as the Director of Maintenance & Repair for the department. Derek is a Certified Educational Facilities Professional with a master's degree in Facility Management who enjoys golfing, fishing, and cheering on the Vols in all sports.
As Assistant Vice Chancellor of Operations, Derek oversees the Energy & Utilities unit, Maintenance & Repair, and FS Operations teams.
